New Orleans Saints vs Carolina Panthers: NFL playoffs score, live updates, TV channel, how to watch online
There’s an old sports adage that says it’s difficult for one team to defeat an opponent three times during a single season. The New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers will test that alleged truism when they meet in a NFC Wild Card playoff game on Sunday (1:40 p.m. PT/4:40 p.m. ET, KPTV-12, FOX).
You can watch the live stream on the NFL’s mobile app or Fox Sports Go. If the NFL Network is part of your cable package, you can also live stream the game through the NFL app on XBox, Apple TV, or Roku device on your TV.
The Saints (11-5) defeated the Panthers 34-13 in Week 3 and 31-21 in Week 13. Quarterback Drew Brees was coldly efficient against the Panthers in the two games, completing 47-of-63 passes for 489 yards with four touchdowns, no interceptions and a rating of 117.8. The Saints averaged 146.5 yards rushing against the Panthers and running backs Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara combined to score four touchdowns in the two games.
The Panthers (11-5) are hoping quarterback Cam Newton will rebound from his awful performance – he completed 14-of-34 passes for 180 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions – during the 22-10 loss to Atlanta in Week 17. Newton will be the key to the Panthers hopes for a win. Newton is 3-3 all-time in the postseason, and his performances have been average at best. Newton was very good during his 335-yard, two-touchdown performance in the 49-15 rout of the Arizona Cardinals in the 2016 NFC Championship game, but he has completed just 59.7 percent of his passes for eight touchdowns and seven interceptions in six playoff games.
